Göring Gambit, Bardeleben Variation

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. c3 dxc3 5. Bc4 Nf6 6. Nxc3 Bb4

Black keeps the extra pawn; White plays for time, open lines, and initiative - the classic gambit trade. d4 at move three trades the centre open immediately: development races and piece activity replace slow manoeuvring. White's knight on c3 is pinned against the king.
